Privacy notice

This notice tells you who is responsible for personal data submitted through northalgo.com, why we process it, and what rights you have. It is the Article 13 information for the assignment form and for email sent to the founder from this site.

Controller: NorthAlgo Oy · Last updated 15 September 2026

1. Who is the controller

The controller is NorthAlgo Oy, business ID (Y-tunnus) 3448558-7. Visiting address: Konttisatamankatu 2 F 7, 00540 Helsinki, Finland.

Contact for privacy and for this website: ryan.ford@northalgo.com.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer. Ryan Ford, Founder and CEO, is the person to write to.

2. What we collect through this website

The assignment form asks for:

If you write to us by email instead, we process the address you send from and whatever you put in the message.

We do not run third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or session-recording tools on this site. We do not use the form to build a marketing list.

The server that hosts the site keeps ordinary technical logs (IP address, user agent, time, requested path) for security and operations. Those logs are not used to profile you commercially.

3. Why we process it, and the legal basis

We use the email and assignment text to reply to your enquiry: a seat plan, a monthly number, a start date, or an honest “this is not a fit.”

Legal basis under GDPR Article 6:

We do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Who receives the data

Ryan Ford receives the form submission by email. Other people inside NorthAlgo see it only if they need it to handle the enquiry (for example John Kim Cazar, COO, once an engagement is being staffed).

The form is delivered using Google’s Gmail service as our email processor. Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC process that email on our instructions. Google may store data outside the EEA. Transfers are covered by Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses and related transfer documentation.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share form submissions with advertisers.

5. How long we keep it

If the enquiry does not become a contract, we keep the correspondence for up to 12 months so we can resume a conversation you started, then delete it unless we must keep it longer for a legal claim or accounting duty.

If we enter a contract, the personal data needed to perform that contract is kept under the engagement file for the life of the contract and for the statutory period that Finnish bookkeeping and liability rules require afterwards.

Server logs are rotated on a short operational cycle and are not kept as a marketing database.

6. Transfers to the Philippines

This page is about the website form. If we later place engineers who work from the Philippines on your team, that is a separate processing activity under a written contract, a data processing agreement, Standard Contractual Clauses, and a transfer impact assessment. The Philippines has no EU adequacy decision. We say so on the homepage because it is a procurement fact, not a footnote.

The assignment form itself is read in Finland. It is not forwarded to a Philippine mailbox as a matter of course.

7. Your rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and (where Article 6(1)(f) applies) object to processing. Where processing is based on a contract, you may also have a right to data portability of the data you provided.

Write to ryan.ford@northalgo.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto) in Finland: tietosuoja.fi.

8. Children

This site is for professional buyers of engineering services. It is not directed at children.

9. Changes

If we add analytics, cookies that are not strictly necessary, or a new processor for the form, this notice will be updated in the same change, together with any consent mechanism and Content Security Policy updates those tools require. That is not in place today.
